National Energy Administration Issues Major Directive: Biomass Integrated into Multi-Source Complementary Heating Systems, Coordinated with Wind and Solar Power

Key Policy Points: Three Opportunities for Biomass Heating

First, multi-source energy complementarity is a national priority. The "Guiding Opinions" explicitly state: "Actively explore the efficient multi-source complementary utilization of geothermal, wind and solar power, biomass, and traditional fossil fuels, and promote the organic integration of new energy heating with existing heating systems." This opens up broad opportunities for biomass heating to develop synergistically with other clean energy sources.

Second, the heating market for industrial parks has opened up.Policy incentives encourage the development of multi-energy coupled integrated energy stations led by new energy in industrial parks with high heat demand, such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, papermaking, and food processing. Biomass boiler heating shows strong potential for applications like industrial steam generation and drying.

Third, the rural energy revolution continues to deepen. The "Guiding Opinions" propose deepening the rural energy revolution to promote local consumption and utilization of new energy in rural areas. Biomass resources are precisely the most abundant and easily accessible renewable energy source in rural regions.

"Biomass + PV" Coupled Model Praised by Academicians

Under supportive policies, coupling biomass energy with solar heating is becoming a key direction for clean heating in rural northern China. Liu Feng Village in Muleng City, Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, has innovated a "solar + biomass stove + electric power" model and was selected for the Global Environment Facility's "China Zero-Carbon Towns and Villages Promotion Project."

Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Jiang Yi proposed actively exploring a synergistic path for rural photovoltaic-storage and biomass fuel development: establishing decentralized biomass fuel processing plants in rural areas, using solar power to process biomass fuels, and creating a commercial trading platform for biomass fuels. "Once this approach is proven viable, it can help resolve challenges related to grid integration of rural photovoltaics and enable better development of both photovoltaic and biomass energy."

Enterprise Practice: Intelligence Aligns Biomass Heating with Policy Directions

The policy emphasizes "integrating new energy heating with existing heating systems," raising the bar for the intelligence of biomass heating equipment. Fangran Environmental Technology's smart pellet stove series features staged air distribution, semi-gasification combustion, and PID intelligent temperature control, along with IoT-enabled remote management and multi-layer safety protections. With a peak thermal efficiency of up to 85%, these units flexibly adapt to residential heating, commercial heating, and industrial heat supply scenarios, aligning closely with the national direction of "multi-energy coupling and flexible dispatch."

As the "Guiding Opinions" are implemented across regions, biomass heating is expected to play an increasingly vital role in the new energy system.
